Plan Your Calendar

If you are starting from scratch, you need to allow plenty of time from the date of making a building decision to your move-in date. During that time, you will want to cover a few steps, all of which are outlined in the navigation menu to your left.

Before you make any decisions regarding your new Heritage log home, you should determine your tastes.  Are you looking for a traditional log home, one of our new Timber Frame homes or a hybrid of the two?

You need to estimate a target move-in date first and then work your way forward along our step-by-step timeline, noting some important benchmarks along the way. Certain steps must be completed before the process can move forward. For example, you must first locate your building site before obtaining financing for it. Similarly, Heritage Log Homes must plan its manufacturing and delivery schedule based on your contractor’s start date.

Below is an example of a timeline for a buyer who is starting at the very beginning of the process. In the typical custom-home scenario, the entire process would take approximately 18 months, start to finish. Buyers who choose to work with an existing Heritage home plan without modifying it could complete the process in less time.

And don’t forget that in the meantime, you may want to sell your current home before you move. You’ll want to leave yourself plenty of time to do that as well.
